Standard Vibrating Digger |
This machine has been designed for use by growers large and small for lifting root crops such as leeks, carrots and small trees for hand picking.
We have three main widths we build: 1100mm, 1250mm and 1550mm.
Special widths for different applications can be made upon request.
How the machine works:
The machine has very hardwearing shears which slice under the roots and forces the crop up onto the rear finger paddles which are split in half and oscillate vertically so when one side is down the other is up. This action helps to shake off the soil and lifts the crop up out of the soil so you can pick them easily by hand. The fingers are driven via the tractor PTO and a gearbox, with shafts going out left and right from its centre. These shafts drive through bearings and act upon a set of eccentric cams. From these cams connecting rods act on the fingers. The amount of movement of the fingers can be adjusted by moving the connecting rods up and down through a series of holes. This gives more or less vertical lift.
You have an option of either discs or depth wheels, the discs are good if the ground is very heavy or compacted as they cut the soil to the right size slice ready for the shear to come under the root. This also puts less stress on the machine.
